Standing at the base of the leaves that surrounded the statues legs, Darasheep tilted her head backwards and swallowed hard at the distance they had to travel to get to the top. Ropes were wound about her back and front, securing the nodes almost a bit too tightly to her body. Tight was better than loose though, considering they would be in enough of a pickle winging their way up towards a high place. It was better to think of something else rather than concentrate on what would happen if they failed.

“You’re not getting cold hooves, are ya?” Gooseka questioned from his position on the ground, craning his neck so that he could peer into his partners face, waddling a bit closer towards her to get a better look at her nervous eyes. He knew she was afraid of heights but the distance wasn’t high enough so that she would freeze up in shock if they got too high. All she had to concentrate on was helping him out if got too exhausted using Brave Bird. When that was only Gooseka knew, the Flaaffy not having questioned him enough to get a measure of how long he could use the move for.

“No.” Darasheep said in a somewhat quavering voice, a slight tremble shaking through her entire body. She then stuffed her lingering fears and doubts into the darkest corner of her mind and prepared for lift off as she felt the small breeze from Gooseka preparing to use his attack, bracing herself for the incoming impact. Then she heard his voice and unconsciously relaxed a bit, knowing that he would make sure that she didn’t fall.

“Okay, here we go!”

There was a bright flash of blue light and suddenly the Flaaffy was swept upwards by the powerful force of the Brave Bird attack. She almost screamed but chose to shut her mouth and hold on tight, her heart stopping for a few moments in sheer terror. Even if Gooseka made sure that she wouldn't be able to drop there was the horrible feeling of leaving her stomach behind that made her feel terribly ill. After a few moments the water duck halted, the blue colour wavering for a bit and they both dropped slightly, Darasheep letting out a little scream of fear and exhilaration before he recovered and used the attack once more, the roller coaster feeling coming back full force.

It took four more tries before finally, they reached the top, Darasheep using her tail to snag her exhausted partner while she scrambled into the soft foliage so neither of them would fall off. She almost got the breath knocked out of her by one of the nodes digging almost painfully into her chest, Gooseka having to raise his head and use his sharp beak to snap the offending ropes in half with quick motions. Panting, the pair crouched down in the nest of leaves that surrounded the Regigigas’s shoulders, peering down at not only all the Pokemon running from the legendary who was crushing the town, but also at the places where they had to attach the receiver nodes.

That part was simple enough. All it consisted of was either Darasheep leaning down while snagging her tail between clumps of leaves, hanging out and attaching the nodes or Gooseka being curled in her tail while she clung to bunches of leaves and swung down so that he could snap it onto the statues body. Both left her feeling nauseous and dizzy; swinging never had bothered her when she was younger but there was that weird sense of vertigo one got when they were older that never really seemed to go away. The fact that they were so high up and they could topple off if the statue made a quick movement (which seemed impossible at the rate it was moving) made her nervous, but with her partner by her side that fear ebbed away slightly.

Now all they had to do was wait for Chelle to get them and it seemed a few moments before they heard the slightly panicked voice of the Researchers head from outside the vegetation that surrounded them.

“Jump!”

Looking down, Darasheep almost got her nose smacked as Chelle pushed herself through the leaves surrounding the statues shoulder, motioning for the sheep to grab her partner. From what she could see they were done and they had to move quickly, or else the pair would be thrown off when it stopped moving. Or if the nodes failed the statue might go crazy and then no one would be able to put a stop to it.

“Quickly now, jump!”

The Flaaffy seemed terrified but suddenly blanking her brain she picked up her exhausted partner and without a second thought leapt through the leaves to begin plummeting to the ground. Chelle caught them both with Psychic in an easy motion and settled them down gently on the ground, Darasheep almost collapsing in relief.

Thanking the Psychic type she staggered off with Gooseka clutched to her wool. Something caught her attention while she was wandering down nearby some of the destroyed buildings. It was the smell of baking goods and instantly her stomach gave gurgle. The only problem was neither of them had any money but the smell was so tempting that she decided to go over there anyways.

The stall wasn’t too far off from where they had jumped and as per usual, Gooseka spotted it way before Darasheep did, although her nose did send her in the right direction. It wasn’t grand at all but the smells coming from it were amazing, Pokemon crowding about it like a swarm of bees to flowers. Inside, there was a small stove that a shiny Raichu was working at, efficiently pulling out buns and sliding them onto a cooling tray, and a shiny Numel herding groups of Pokemon through, charming them with his seemingly carefree nature and a few jokes planted here and there. At the counter was a very pretty Wigglytuff doling out bread left and right. She didn’t seem exhausted at the amount of Pokemon pouring in, efficiently giving one bread per Pokemon while more buns came in.

“Only one per mon!” Rang the sweet but clear voice across the store as more Pokemon shuffled and others shuffled out. “If you want more you’ll have to finish that one first, but you’re not fooling me if you hide it or steal from another.”

The normal type fixated her violet eyes on some Pokemon who the Numel then escorted out, before turning to Darasheep, who was next in line. Giving the shy sheep a brilliant smile she handed her two buns, the Flaaffy was escorted out after thanking the Wigglytuff for the free food.

Once outside, the electric type settled on the soft grass while Gooseka pecked at the bun he had been given beside her. Sniffing at the bun and deciding that she didn’t have time to be suspicious of a nice Pokemon, Darasheep began to nibble at the crust. It tasted just like home and all of a sudden the electric type shivered and tried to swallow past the lump in her throat.

Her and Gooseka chatted for a while before deciding that they should form a team. They worked well together and it made sense that creating a team would be the best situation to go for if they were going to stay in this strange town for a long while. The name was slightly tricky but Gooseka had the bright idea of calling their team Atlantic Fence and Darasheep went along with it, her jeweled tail wagging back and forth happily.

Finishing off her bun, the Flaaffy looked upwards and watched the clouds move overhead, letting out a very soft sigh. They had only been in town for two days and already she was exhausted. But an excited spark charged her wool in thought of the adventures that awaited them, to be slightly doused as she realized she might not be able to see her family for a while. Maybe there was a post office nearby that she could send them letters to, but it might be a while before they got it.

At least, they would know her and Gooseka were safe.
The end for Atlantic Fence's M1 for PMD-Unity.

Success!  And food!

And some familiar faces, I see.
