========== WRITTEN TEST ==========

Warm sunlight streamed in from the large windows surrounding the hallways of the Researchers guild, where lots of Pokemon milled about after registration had been done. Some talked quietly amongst themselves, others laughed and slapped each other on the back in congratulations while one of the stranger pairs had taken it upon themselves to slip away and trot through the hallways to look about. Doing so put them away from everyone else, but large crowds made them uncomfortable, so it was better this way. They got a better feel for this place while alone, not with everyone else..that would probably end in injury or something of the sort.

“Registered, registered, we’ve gotten ourselves registered.” sang the fluffy Flaaffy as she twirled in place down the empty hallway, admiring the way both of their voices echoed about the curved ceiling. It was nice to relax once in a while and after that statue attacking it seemed rushing to get into a guild was on everyones minds. It had been somewhat of a struggle to get the papers and even more so to fill them out, especially considering she couldn’t see and had to have Gooseka help her out with it. It made her a bit frustrated but there was nothing she could do about it, so why complain? “It’s our first step in the right direction~”

“Do we ever go in the wrong one?” murmured her partner from on top of her head, flapping his wings slightly to almost make her topple while he tried to keep his balance. He knew that she liked twirling a lot, even though it made both of them dizzy. She was such a scattered sheep sometimes..what a silly Pokemon.

“Oh c’mon Gooseka; you know what I mean!” the electric type replied with a laugh, her blue eyes sparkling with the excitement of finally being where she thought she belonged. This was time to leave the bitterness of her past behind and to start almost everything fresh again. If only her parents could see her now!

..Actually that was probably a bad thought, so better brush it aside for now and focus on the task ahead..finding a way back to everyone. That didn’t seem too hard, considering about the next corner the pair were met with a massive group of Pokemon clogging the hallway. Their mutterings were so loud and somewhat terrifying that no amount of loud honking could dissuade them and Darasheep was a bit too frightened to even think about squeezing through the throngs.

The growling seemed to get louder as something could be seen moving their way throughout the crowd. It was large and green coloured from the looks of it and upon closer inspection a Flygon could be seen trying to weave her way throughout the group with little to no success. She didn’t seem to be very courteous about trying to make her way though, effectively stepping on paws, treading on tails and even smacking into a few Pokemon who made no effort to get out of her way..so it was their loss.

"Ohhh... Excuse me, pardon me, Leader's Assistant comin' through... C'mon guys, can’t you have your little meeting thing somewhere that isn't blocking a hallway? 'scuse me, sorry, jeez..."

“What’s up with her?” the sheep whispered to her partner, who was staring at the dual type as if unimpressed. He looked down at her before answering, giving a small honk afterwards. “She’s carrying lots of stoof, but no one’s getting out of her way.”

“Shouldn’t we help her then?” Dara questioned as her tail swept backwards, her horns then perking upwards as a yell caught both of their attention. There was a loud crash and they were both smacked with papers, the electric type falling on her face with a somewhat soft yelp as Gooseka tumbled off and landed with a thud. He pushed himself upwards using both of his wings while Darasheep looked back to see if he was okay.

She then took to the task of helping pick up the papers, shuffling them into order while the Duckling helped by either nudging the papers with his beak or flapping his wings to make it so that Darasheep wouldn’t have to bend over to far to get them. When that was done the papers balanced high again but at least the Pokemon was happy..from what the blurry eyed sheep could tell.

"Oooof, so many papers... There we go," the Flygon mutters, balancing everything back into a manageable pile before straightening and breaking out into a cheery smile. "Thanks so much for helping me pick all these up. I swear, that’s like the fifth time I’ve tripped today; I’m such a klutz…" She blinks. "Heeeey, wait a minute. You don't look familiar. Are you visiting the Guild?"

“Well..yeah, kinda.” the lamb mumbled shyly before straightening, feeling her partner shift his webbed feet into a more comfortable position on her wool. He scratched against her scalp slightly, easing the itch that plagued her from time to time. It was tough with her paws to get down there and he hated getting wool in his beak, but they managed somehow. “We..we just registered.”

That brought an excited smile to the dragon and ground types features, her tail shifting in a wagging motion.

"Well no wonder I don’t remember you, you're new!" She inclines her long neck in the best bow she can manage without dropping everything all over again. "Welcome to the Researchers Guild! I'm Kali, I'm one of the Guild Leaders' assistants here. Pleased to meet you! And you are…?"

“I’m Gooseka and that’s Dara.” the Duckling piped up, feeling that his partner was a bit too meek to try and speak up just yet to this klutzy Flygon.

She smiles again.
"Nice names! You don't hear many like that around here, but then again Andalusst is kind of a mish-mash of a whole bunch of different kinds of names. It's always nice to hear 'em since Pokémon do tend to come in from all over the place, after all. And speaking of which, did you guys get here from the fog or something?"

“Yeah, we did.”

That’s all he was going to say on the matter, for both of their faced seemed to darken at remember what had brought them into the fog in the first place. Kali didn’t seem to notice, instantly going to another question as her face brightened once again.

"Really? Hmm, yeah, that's how it is for a few people around here. I'm not an Andalusst native myself, but I figured I'd stick around. Anyway, now that you're here and you've been registered as a team, what name did you pick?"

“Atlantice Fence.” came the soft mutter of the sheep, her tail sweeping downwards. She was still somewhat frightened by what had happened before with the statue..it still haunted her.

"Hah, that's so much better than the name I used when I signed up, wow. I was kind of, uh, young and silly back then, I guess you could say, so the name I used was... yeeeeaaaaah, pretty bad."

"So what's your reason for joining the Guild, anyway? There are three guilds here in Andalusst, and even if I like it here with the Researchers, I know it's not the best fit for everyone since we're kinda knowledge-oriented; you could've just as easily registered with the Hunters, or the Explorers. So why here?"

“Oh, my Da has influence on that..he’s always talked big about the Researchers Guild s-so..that’s why I joined.” Darasheep chirped, a very small smile on her face. She had always loved doing research, reading books and the like so it wasn’t too much of a hard guess why she had joined this type of Guild. As for Gooseka..she figured that he had simply joined because she had; he was very independent and not a follower, like her, but he enjoyed her company so decided to stick around.

Kali listens quite intently as your team tells its story, her earlier cheerful expression changing to one of thoughtful consideration. She waits patiently for the response to wrap up, before speaking again. "Wow, that's quite a tale! Not many Pokémon come through here with a story like that. Seems like everyone in the Guilds has a driving force behind what they do, and some reasons are... well, better than others."

She pauses, before her voice regains its chipper tone. "So that’s the "why" and the "how"; what about the "what"? What do you think made the Guild decide to accept you into the ranks?" She says this with honest curiosity, not a trace of taunt or teasing in her tone, and listens as your team lists off their skills.

The pair traded looks before giving Kali an almost quizzical one; why should they care about why they got accepted into the Guild when they were in already? Granted, there had to be some reason they got in..asides from the other Pokemon that were here.. Biting her lip in thought, the fluffy Flaaffy toyed with one of her curls before responding in an almost careful manner.

“Well..I guess we’re both pretty smart, by ourselves and together. When we put out heads together, there’s no problem we can’t solve. We’re also good at making friends and talking through problems..but fighting isn’t below..means of solving problem for us.”

Kali didn’t seemed fazed by the last words spoken by the sheep and a pleased smile crossed her features as she listened, even giggling slightly at her explanation.

"Oh wow, that's pretty cool! You guys are lucky. Y'know sometimes I wish I had a better skill set like that; then maybe I’d be more help to the Guild. Pretty much the only things I do around here are draw and deliver papers everywhere and, well, get stuck helping Archie."

She says the last part with sudden venom, and your team gets the feeling that she’s not entirely fond of the Pokémon in question.

"I mean yeah sure he's one of the Guild Leaders, but he's just so... so... annoying, always bossing people around and taking credit for everything and acting like he's so much smarter than everyone else. And I'm always the one having to put up with him since someone has to help him but everyone else always runs off before they get stuck with him instead!"

Kali lets out a great huff of frustration, glancing away for a moment before remembering she has an audience. Giving an embarrassed chuckle as her face slowly reddens, she says, "And oh gosh, there I go running my mouth, ahaha! Sorry, I'm not talking too much or anything, am I? I kind of have a tendency to ramble on sometimes... And I probably really shouldn’t be bad-mouthing Archimedes...”

With a sudden, panicked expression abruptly crossing her face as she remembers the mass of paper in her arms, she blurts, "And OH MY GOSH I still need to take care of these!"

She starts running down the hall, then abruptly pulls an about-face - accidentally whacking a passerby with her tail while doing so - to stammer, "Uh, it was nice meeting you! I'll, er, see you later, I hope?" She attempts to raise an arm to wave back, but stops when the paper pile in her arms wobbles precariously, and instead flashes a quick grin before stomping briskly away.

The pair were left standing there before the sheep muttered “well, that was..fun” and Gooseka nodded in agreement. They weren’t too sure what to make of the Guild assistant so far, but she seemed nice at least. Darasheep could relate to her in most ways, especially on the rambling..granted she was also a good listener, so it evened out in that retrospect.

With that said, they wandered off to explore the rest of the Guild, each with their own thoughts. What kind of exciting adventures would they go through when everything began to pick up again?

Only time would tell..and they were willing to wait.
